Unveiling the Magic: Connecticut Wedding Planners Role Decoded

Embarking on the journey of planning your dream wedding is thrilling, but let’s be real – the details, decisions, and endless research can turn excitement into overwhelm, especially with a full plate of commitments. Enter the unsung heroes, the Connecticut wedding planners, your partners in crime for crafting a seamless wedding celebration in Connecticut.

Why Do I Need a Connecticut Wedding Planner?

In the whirlwind of wedding prep, family opinions can be a mixed bag, and as the big day approaches, everyone deserves to bask in the joy, not stress. That’s where a wedding planner steps in, expertly navigating decisions, guiding you through the process, and ensuring a stress-free day for all.

Wedding planners are industry experts who can offer invaluable resources to create a personalized, beautiful, and seamless event while respecting your budget, vision and priorities. A planner allows you, and anyone else involved in the planning process, the chance to focus on the overall details and what most consider the “fun” parts of the planning process (menu tasting, design, etc.) while they handle the logistics and back and forth details with the vendors involved.

Services Tailored to You

Many wedding planning companies, like ours at Weddings by Regina Marie, offer diverse packages, with each service being tailored to your unique needs. Let’s explore the high-level differences between Event Management and Full-Service packages:

Connecticut Wedding Planners Event Management Package

This package is most beneficial for couples who are having their wedding at an all-inclusive venue or other venue that has on-site staff. Event Management services are what most people have heard referred to as “Day-of” of “Month-of” Coordination, a phrase that is a HUGE misrepresentation since this service goes way beyond the day or even month of a wedding. It would be impossible for a wedding planner to show up on your wedding day and execute a flawless event without having spent hours beforehand getting to know your needs, your vendor requirements, the venue layout, etc. A wedding coordinator will typically spend between 30-50 hours on each Event Management wedding.

A few things that we do as part of our Event Management package:

  • Provide a list of recommended vendors based on your specific needs.
  • Offer monthly check-in meetings to answer any planning questions you have while planning your wedding.
  • Take over coordinating logistics three months prior to the wedding.
  • Create a comprehensive wedding weekend timeline to share with vendors as well as a customized version for you and your wedding party.
  • Remain onsite on the wedding day to lead and direct vendors and ensure that your timeline is being followed and the day runs smoothly.

For those couples who don’t need a Full Service Planning package, but would like additional support planning their wedding, “planning hours” and other a la carte options can be added to an Event Management package so that all of your needs are met.

Connecticut Wedding Planners Full Service Planning & Design

Full Service Planning is perfect for couples who have picked their venue and don’t know where to go from there. This is a necessity for any couple wanting to have their wedding in a residential setting. This type of wedding requires so much planning to create a wedding venue from scratch.

A few things that the best Connecticut Wedding Planners offer in a Full Service Planning service:

  • Working with you from the beginning of your planning journey to help make sense of your wants and priorities.
  • Assisting with establishing a design vision and maintaining a realistic budget.
  • Connecting you with professional wedding vendors to execute your vision.
  • Reviewing all contracts to ensure you understand each vendor’s responsibilities.
  • Attending meetings, walkthroughs and tastings with you to handle the details so you can focus on your priorities.
  • Communicating all details and logistics with vendors throughout the entire planning process.
  • Acting as a liaison between you and your vendor team so that no details are missed.
  • Implementing monthly meetings to guide you on aspects of etiquette such as invitations, family situations, and wedding day flow.
  • Creates a comprehensive wedding weekend timeline & itinerary to share with vendors as well as you and your wedding party
  • Remains onsite on the wedding day directing vendors and ensuring the timeline is being followed and the day runs smoothly.

What Else Do Connecticut Wedding Planners Do?

While planning packages offer many essential services, there are countless other tasks that your planner can do to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable experience for you and your loved ones. Some things we’ve done over the years that we can also do for you include:

  1. Sewing back the groomsmen’s broken bowtie as well as a broken bridesmaids dress
  2. Make an extra boutonniere when one breaks
  3. Fashion a bustle out of safety pins and thread underneath your dress when yours breaks
  4. Wipe down your ceremony chairs after unexpected rain shower
  5. Places umbrella behind altar for wedding party if it looks like it might rain
  6. Help you pee (I’ve been a nurse for 14 years and have seen it all!)
  7. Carries your lipstick in our pocket so you have it when you need it
  8. Making sure you get apps, dinner, and your favorite drink
  9. Discretely packs your personal items for your exit.
  10. Making sure there is a plate and forks by your cake before you cut it so that there isn’t the awkward pause of running to get one when it’s time to cut the cake.
  11. Ensuring the champagne toast is poured by the caterer before the DJ makes the announcement.
  12. Call 911 discreetly when one of your guests has a medical emergency
  13. Gives you and your partner (and wedding party) breath mints and tissues before walking down the aisle
  14. Makes sure you have your room key/phone/wallets at the end of the night before you leave
  15. Stop the band from warming up/doing sound check during your ceremony (if reception is close by)
  16. Stop drunk guests or unplanned guests from getting on the mic to give a toast or speech
  17. Calling Uber for intoxicated guests if you haven’t provided a shuttle
  18. Making sure you have chairs with arms (and your guests actually use them) if you are doing the Hora
  19. Handles all big family/friend personalities and redirecting them if you need space from them
  20. Assisting the photographer with calling out all of your extended family during pictures
  21. Brings a portable fan to fan you between pictures when it’s hot outside (also has water and your drink of choice on standby to take sips from between pictures!)
  22. Steams the wrinkles and creases out of your bridesmaid dresses (or table linens)
  23. Helps out with your fur babies if you wish for them to be part of your wedding
  24. Helps out photographer/videographer to get the perfect shot (throws veil in air for wind blown shot, holds extra lights, crouches behind you holding dress so it doesn’t get dirty, etc.)

Ultimately, Connecticut wedding planners are an essential investment that brings expertise, experience, and peace of mind to your special day.  Trust your planner and know that they have your best interests at heart.
