Interview with Reverend Orsella of Serenity Ceremonies

Reverend Orsella (or Reverend O, as people tend to call her) of Serenity Ceremonies is an ordained wedding officiant and pre-marital counselor based in Connecticut. Reverend O joined Regina and Cate for one of our deepest conversations yet, in which we discussed the heartbreak of having your dream wedding pulled out from under you, the new challenges engaged couples face, and the vital importance of focusing on the marriage in addition to the wedding.

As someone who has years of experience counseling people leading up to their marriage, Reverend O’s perspective on weddings and relationships was unique and powerful. She talked us through her pre-marital counseling system, SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) and gave us tips for having a Come to Jesus moment with family members with a lot of opinions. She talked about ways to bring excitement and joy back into the 24-hour/7-days-a-week togetherness that so many couples have been thrust into during the pandemic. And she discussed what makes a ceremony shine, and why you shouldn’t rush through it.

Throughout her interview, Reverend O infused us with her bright, optimistic-but-realistic energy, reminding us of the fundamental WHY underneath all of our occupations in the wedding industry.

Here is how she introduces herself on her website: A perfectionist at my core with a wicked sense of humor, I’m an Ordained, Professional Wedding Officiant based in Connecticut serving couples since 2005.

Because I understand that every couple’s vision and needs are unique, I work closely with my couples to ensure that every ceremony is a true collaboration and a reflection of who they are.

I get profound satisfaction in seeing the joy and love surrounding you and your Beloved on your special day, so whether it’s a simple intimate backyard ceremony or a large black-tie affair, I love going above and beyond for all of my couples while executing their ceremony vision.

By the way, here’s the blog post Reverend O mentioned in her interview:
